Meet the Staff of Duncan Disability Law, S.C.

Attorney Dana W. Duncan

Attorney Dana W. Duncan

Attorney Dana W. Duncan is a native Wisconsinite, whose family has lived in the state since the 1840’s.  He comes from a family of hard-working people – his grandparents were dairy farmers and his parent’s factory workers. He grew up understanding hard work and earning a paycheck.

Originally from Beloit, Wisconsin, he has lived in the Wisconsin Rapids area since 1994 where he founded Duncan Disability Law, SC. He has represented hundreds of disabled clients throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota in Social Security law, Worker’s Compensation and Veteran’s Disability benefits.

Attorney Duncan takes great pride in the founding of his office, but takes even greater pride in his family. His wife, Christine, and he have been married since 1988 and she is an integral part of Duncan Disability Law. He has three children, Thomas, Allyson and Sarah.

When Dana is not working, you will find him reading, watching his beloved Packers (he’s a shareholder) or Brewers on television. As an amateur historian, Attorney Duncan loves books on history and biography.

Attorney Duncan has become a well-known Social Security, Worker’s Compensation and VA attorney. In 2011, he was a speaker at the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives convention in San Antonio, Texas, speaking as an expert in his field. He continues to lecture on the law and consult with other lawyers on these issues.

Christine Duncan, Sr. Social Security Disability Specialist/Office Manager

Christine Duncan, Sr. Social Security Disability Specialist/Office Manager

Her journey with Social Security Disability began years ago when she was called to help out in Attorney Duncan’s office while in-between secretaries. Her love of people and her compassion towards those with disabilities began in her youth and developed after meeting her in-laws who suffered with blindness, diabetes, cancer and lung problems, and after her own father became nearly deaf from Meniere's disease. Both merged into full-time work with Attorney Duncan in August of 2008 and there’s been no looking back.

Christine and Attorney Dana Duncan were married in 1988 while Attorney Duncan was still in law school in Milwaukee and Christine was finishing her degree in Business/Human Resources at UW-LaCrosse. It is with her skills in business and Dana’s vision for helping others, that they created Duncan Disability Law in 2011, after working for other firms for over 20 years.

Christine was Dana’s sole assistant doing both Social Security and Worker’s Compensation from August 2008 until December 2009, when all levels of Social Security became her specialty.  Since forming Duncan Disability Law, she has become the Senior Social Security Disability Specialist for Federal Claims and is also the Office Manager.

The Duncan’s have three children who also work in the firm, mostly behind the scenes, so Duncan Disability Law is truly a family business.  Since family is the most important thing to both Christine and Dana, their love of family and keeping family connections is what makes them want to treat each client as if they were family, and they are – every client is part of the Duncan Disability family!

In her spare time, Christine is the Community Coordinator for an exchange student program and the Duncan’s have hosted 18 students from all over the world.  She has managed more than 200 students from 30 countries during her tenure as a coordinator.  Christine also enjoys reading, knitting and cooking, but more than anything she loves spending time with her kids – both foreign and natural.

Amanda Richardson, Disability Specialist

Amanda Richardson, DDL

Amanda has always worked in an office setting working on computers and truly enjoys the various tasks that my job allows her to perform on a daily basis. She finds it rewarding to be able to assist others in achieving their Social Security disability benefits and has discovered in her time working with Duncan Disability Law, that there are unfortunate flaws in Social Security that cause the people that truly deserve to be on disability to have the hardest time in receiving it. Being a Social Security Disability Specialist, she vows “I will do everything that I can to assist you during this frustrating process.”

Amanda was born and raised in Wisconsin Rapids, graduating from Lincoln High School in 2003 and Mid-State Technical College in 2005 with an Associate Degree in Administrative Assistant. When she’s not working, she spends time with her husband and 3 “fur” kids (2 rescued black lab mixes and 1 grey barn cat), doing work around their home on their property or on the never-ending list of things to be done. Amanda loves going out to the land her parents own in Rudolph, deer hunting, fishing or spending time with her 3 step-children - a grown daughter, a son reaching 18, and another son going into Junior High.

Geri Ryan, Worker’s Compensation and Veteran’s Disability Specialist

Geri Ryan, Worker’s Compensation and Veteran’s Disability Specialist

Geri was introduced to the Worker’s Compensation field several years ago while working for a local paper manufacturer. What she enjoyed the most was the investigative part which included reviewing medical records to determine what was or was not work related and going out on surveillance with the private investigator. Learning the ropes on the “company” side prepared her for the duties she needed to do on the “employee” side. She likes the personal contact she has with our clients; some of them feel like old friends, and the methodical aspects of her job which include obtaining information, filling out and submitting forms to the Department of Work Force Development, and helping clients obtain the benefits they deserve.

Geri is a long-time resident of Wis. Rapids, is married and has a disabled daughter who lives in Florida. She feels she was fortunate when her job at the paper manufacturer was “outsourced” as it enabled her to return to school and graduate in 2007with an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

Her interests include scrapbooking, gardening, playing horseshoes, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her cat (Sweetie Hazel). Geri also likes to volunteer her time to organizations and has held positions with the Girl Scouts, Jaycees, Wood County Master Gardener, and several professional women’s groups.

Jennifer Cornwell, Disability Specialist

Jennifer Cornwell, Disability Specialist

Jen came to Duncan Disability Law last September with experience in the legal field from a prior position and with knowledge of the medical field, having graduated in August 2011 from UW-La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, minor in Sociology, and from Mid-State Technical College in 1997 with an EMT – Basic technical diploma. Jen is also a Certified Veterinary Technician with an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology degree from Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology, Denver, CO, with more than 6 years of experience in the veterinary field. With her schooling and veterinary experience, she is quite comfortable with the medical aspect of disability claims. She has her own personal minor disabilities and, as a single mom to a young son who struggles with food allergies to most all basic foods, she is personally familiar with the pain and frustration that living with a disability brings. Jen enjoys assisting Attorney Duncan in bringing client’s disability claims to successful conclusions.

Jen recently moved back to the Wisconsin Rapids area, where she was born and raised, with her young son, her dog, and their horses. When she’s not in the office, Jen spends time with her son, as well as friends and family, reading, walking, riding horses, kayaking, traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, canoeing, swimming, watching movies, listening to music – live & recorded, motorcycling, being outside and anything nature or animal related. She would like to learn how to play the piano and the guitar.
